I’ve had a quiet month since the Coast to Coast, partly out of laziness and partly because I managed to injure my foot. Winter is coming, and so it is now dark when I take the dogs out in the morning. A couple of weeks ago I had the bright idea of taking them out without switching on the outside light, and ended up standing on a pine cone, turning my ankle, and hearing a crunching sound in my foot followed by my loud swearing as I collapsed in a heap.
No running for me following that.
I’m back on the road now, although my foot and ankle still feel a little stiff.
I cheered myself up by buying myself some new kit. My old road shoes are about 8 or 9 years old and so it is well beyond time that I replaced them. Enter some nice shiny new, blue ones, accompanied by some new socks and some new shorts. Lovely. Today’s run felt all squishy and bouncy as I plodded around the roads and tow paths near work. Now I think I might replace my 9 year old trail shoes as well. My Credit Card is getting a thorough working out.
